Akkineni Nagarjuna Biography:
Akkineni Nagarjuna was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India in August 1959.
Nagarjuna was born to Telugu cinema actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Annapurna Akkineni. Nagarjuna did his schooling at Hyderabad Public School and later went to Ratna Junior College to do his intermediate.
After that, he went on to do mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai. He later attended the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, where he received his master’s degree in automobile engineering.
Nagarjuna has married twice. He is currently married to Amala who was a popular actress in Tamil and Telugu film industries.
He has two sons. Naga Chaitanya from his first marriage, and Akhil Akkineni from his second marriage.
He primarily works in Telugu Cinema and has acted in more than 90 roles. Nagarjuna has won two National Film Awards, two Filmfare Awards South, and nine state Nandi Awards.

Nagarjuna has starred as Annamacharya in the 1997 film Annamayya, Yavakri in the 2002 film Angi Varsha, Major Padmapani Acharya in the 2003 film LOC Kargil, Kancherla Gopanna in the 2006 film Sri Ramadasu, Sai Baba of Shirdi in the 2012 film Shirdi Sai, and Chandaludu in the 2013 film Jagadguru Adi Sankara. Nagarjuna starred in the film Geetanjali in 1989 and Siva the same year.
Geethanjali, a love story directed by Maniratnam followed by Shiva an action film directed by Ram Gopal Varma were highly successful and established him as one of the top heroes.
In 2004, Nagarjuna featured in two releases, Nenunnanu and Mass, the latter went on to become a hit. In 2005, Nagarjuna had one release, Super. Super didn’t reach up to the exceptations.
Then in 2006, Nagarjuna had two releases, Sri Ramadasu, a period film based on the life of great saint-composer Ramadasu, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, and Boss, I Love You.
Sri Ramadasu was a big hit at the box office and he got the Nandi award for Sri Ramadasu but Boss, I Love You was a flop. His earlier release Don, was directed by Raghava Lawrence. His next release King, was directed by Sreenu Vaitla and was a big hit.
He made his Bollywood debut in 1990 in Shiva. Nagarjuna represented Cinema of South India at the 2013 Delhi Film Festival’s 100 Years of Indian Cinema. He co-owns the Mumbai Masters of the Indian Badminton League and Mahi Racing Team India.

Nagarjuna revived his father’s production Annapurna Studios which is one of the most successful production companies of recent times in Tollywood. He has never hesitated to experiment when he produced films
Akkineni started producing films in 1995. He also is the owner of the production company Annapurna Studios with his brother Venkat. Nagarjuna is also the president of non-profit film school Annapurna International School of Film and Media.
Nagarjuna is also the co-founder of Blue Cross of Hyderabad. Nagarjuna was listed in Forbes India top 100 Celebrities for 2012 and 2013.
