Frank Grillo was born on June 8, 1963 in New York City, New York. Frank. He is the oldest of three children,who began acting in high school plays but was also a good athlete and dreamt of playing professional sports.
Frank Grillo was raised in the Bronx and in Rockland County, New York. Grillo began wrestling at eight years old, and took up boxing at eighteen.In 1991, Frank Grillo started practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, in which he has studied under Rickson Gracie and holds a brown belt.
His parents encouraged him to go to college first so Frank attended and graduated from New York University with a degree in business. Frank Grillo worked on Wall Street for about a year before a meeting with a casting director. This landed him a part in a beer commercial for Miller Genuine Draft.
