Halsey was born as Ashley Nicolette Frangipane on 29th September, 1994, in Edison, New Jersey. Her mother, Nicole, is an EMT, and her father, Chris is a car dealership manager. Halsey was bullied in high school, and she even attempted suicide and was hospitalized for more than 2 weeks when she was 17 years old. Ashely was then diagnosed with bipolar disorder and began using drugs and got involved with a 24-year-old man who lived on Brooklyn’s Halsey Street.

Halsey started writing songs and graduated from Warren Hills Regional High School in 2012.

Halsey originally enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design, but withdrew because she couldn’t afford the course and decided to go to community college instead.

Halsey later dropped out, and her parents kicked her out of their home. Hence, Helsey started living with “degenerate stoners” in a lower Manhattan basement and sometimes stayed in homeless shelters.
