Pitbull was born as Armando Christian Perez on January 15, 1981 in Miami, Florida to Cuban expatriates. His parents divorced when he was young, and he was raised by his mother who kicked him out of their house when he was 16.

He briefly lived with a foster family in Roswell, Georgia. Pitbull then became a drug dealer, just like his father.

He attended South Miami Senior High School before graduating from Miami Coral Park High School. Post school, he chose the stage name Pitbull and focused on launching a rapping career.
