Thomas Sidney Jerome “Tom” Sturridge was born on December 21, 1985 in Lambeth, London, England, United Kingdom to actress Phoebe Nicholls and director Charles Sturridge. He is the grandson of actress Faith Kent and actor Anthony Nicholls.
He has a brother named Arthur and a sister named Matilda, both actors. Sturridge attended Harrodian School and Winchester College.

Tom Sturridge first acted in the play The Trial. He then appeared in the 1996 television version of Gulliver’s Travels.
