Will Bombay HC save Kangana Ranaut against FIR alleging that she tried to divide communities ?

Kangana Ranaut had moved Bombay High Court on Monday and filed a plea for quashing the FIR registered against her and her sister Rangoli Chandel at the Bandra police station. The HC will hear Kangana plea against an FIR lodged by a complainant that she tried to create a divide between communities with her social media posts.

The FIR was registered by casting director and fitness trainer Munnawar Ali Sayyed in October. In the complain, he had stated that the sisters were trying to create hatred and communal tension between Hindus and Muslims through their tweets.

Following this the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate ordered the Mumbai Police investigate the case. The sisters were booked under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295A (deliberate and malicious act to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting their religion) and 124A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code.

Earlier ,news agency ANI had reported that Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel have been asked to appear before the Bandra Police, in connection to the case. The sisters were summoned by Police, asking them to appear before Bandra Police on 23-24 Nov over “objectionable comments on social media to spread communal tension between 2 groups.”
